The book Change Me is the author Jasmin Waldmann’s attempt to lay out a healthy lifestyle to its readers to follow, to enable them to transform their mind and body. Jasmin is an international coach, a personal trainer and a fitness expert. She is the inventor of Pilardio, a concept that combines Piilates and Cardio and the developer of JaWa Diet.
Nothing Impressive
The author adopts a very clumsy narrative style which is the fusion of facts with a fictional story line. It is not a new style. But you need expertise as a writer to pull off such a narrative style. The story has to be strong and interesting to read. The facts and information has to be effortlessly incorporated into the storyline and not forced into. I think the author failed miserably and the book appeared more as a marketing gimmick than a serious health book written to help the masses.
For me personally such a narrative style doesn’t work. I have a different style of reading fiction and non fiction books. I read fiction a little fast and nonfiction books rather slowly absorbing the essence of the book.
Confusion between Fiction and Nonfiction
Now in the book Change Me, the fictional story is average to read, I feel like reading it fast and finish it off quickly but, in doing so I am missing out on health points. My mind was confused how to exactly read such a book. So in no time I lost both my patience and interest in the book.
No Takeaway
The book has a detailed introduction and benefits of Pilardio and JaWa Diet. But it failed to provide the exact procedure and technique of Pilardio and no menu or diet recipes were provided in JaWa Diet. So I can’t get any benefit out of the information about these concepts. Also, there was no uniqueness about the general health information provided in the book.
The Verdict
There are better health books available in the market written in a better way. One book which I want to unread will be this one.
